GAME RECAP

The game between the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates was cancelled due to rain at Three Rivers Stadium.

The start was delayed 16 minutes and Pittsburgh starter Dan Miceli retired two batters before rain started falling again. Umpires cancelled the contest following a 97-minute delay.

The game was the last scheduled between San Francisco and Pittsburgh this season and will be made up only if it has a bearing on the standings. Both teams are firmly entrenched in last place in their respective divisions, however.
